Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on the 21st of September the 21st of September 1983 in Worthington Ohio is an American actor. She is best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills and Kim Mills on ABC's Lost TV show. Her parents had divorced and they moved together with their mother in Los Angeles. In 2001, despite her financial struggles she managed get her first significant role in the online video show Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's main character. In the following year, she was awarded a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. In 2004 Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost on which she was the main actor for the first two seasons. She was also awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was forced to quit the show in order to pursue a professional film work. The actress had been on the show with Tom Welling opposite in The Fog earlier in the year 2005. She also was on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well as, alongside Liam Neeson's Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of the roles. Grace returned to the Lost series for the last two episodes, playing Shannon. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. The role she plays is Faith as a girl who is a muse for celebrities and attracts the attention to Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the younger sister of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager she appeared in small roles in the films of her father and was co-starring with her twin brother on Donnie Darko which is a popular cult movie. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal's lead roles in Secretary, an erotico-romantic comedy, and Sherrybaby (a dramatic) have earned her nominations to the Golden Globe Award. After several commercially successful films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In 2009, she received a nomination for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mother as she appeared in Crazy Heart. The subsequent roles she has played include Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang and Hysteria. The actress also appeared as the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down the action thriller that was released in 2013. She also played a musician on the set of Frank (2014) as well as the lead role on The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama that was released in the year of the year 2018. In 2021, Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directed debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
