Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). At the age five she moved from London to Oxfordshire to attend the Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. As a young girl of six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she took classes in acting, singing and dancing. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for the first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight consecutive auditions. Emma's first cinematic appearance was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It also was the film that was most popular during 2001. The opening weekday and weekend the sales were record breaking. Critics were impressed with the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma's performance received nominations and won five awards later in the film.
